i,m writing about a fox who lost his dad, but he doesn't know his mom does. She doesn't want to tell him that because she doesn't want him to be sad. So she has to make something up. I know what she can say. She will say moon darwfs took him to the moon because he was wouned form the bullet that the hunter shot. Do you have any better ideas of who took him to the moon because dawfs is all i can think of.

well if your writing about a fox which is a woodland creature i would suggest a typical crature that lives ther i.e tree fairies, pixies magical moles fire flys etc dwalfs to me don't seem lijke they have the magical power to go to the moon
