I recently bought Cranford by Mrs Gaskell. The book was published in 1907 and there is a preface by Anne Thackeray Ritchie. In the flyleaf there is a sticker from St Aidan's School awarding a prize to Jan Ritchie for the session 1911-1912. I wonder if she is a granddaughter of Mrs Ritchie?
