I. sounds like it could be one of the Norman Conquests Trilogy by Alan Aykbourne.
Hi balooney

As Hellion says I think the first one could be one of the Norman Conquest Trilogy

No suggestions for no. 2 but no. 3 I wondered about something like "Privates on Parade" or Alan Bennett's "Forty Years On"

I work at a theatre bookshop so will try and check those titles on Monday.

The first one is really familiar, I'm sure I've seen the play!
