The case being investigated is one of multiple incidents of child abuse.

I am about a third of the way through it and finding it quite disturbing and distressing and yet I can't leave it unread. I need to know how it develops and comes to fruition.

Has anyone else read it? What was your reaction?

I've not read it,yet I gather from the amazon reviews that many have found it difficult.

I've only read the first 2 in the series...I must tackle a few more.

Thank you, Pasta. I'll have a look at the Amazon reviews.

If you tackle some more, try to read them in chronological order so as to understand some of the other themes in the book.

I finished reading this today. I found myself rapidly skimming over the upsetting bits and I don't think that I have ever been so pleased to finish a book. It was a gruelling experience.

Some thing amusing next, methinks.
I have read and enjoyed all the Simon Serailler books. I wasn't disturbed by this book, fiction very rarely disturbs me, but I know what you mean about the subject matter.
I haven't read it but I recently read a book that centred around child abuse and I found that disturbing. I tend to avoid television programmes and books on subjects that upset me - domestic violence is another. Strange, isn't it? Murder doesn't upset me (the fictional kind of course), but other topics do.
Question Author
At least with a book you can skip the bits you don't want to read. I don't watch anything on the TV that I know will upset me.
