I have just finished the last of the Wodehouse Blandings books, and I just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed them ! A true comic genius. I am now starting on the Uncle Fred series and these are just as wonderful.

I would recommend Wodehouse to anyone.

Really enjoyed the tv series so the books are added to my *to read* list. Mind you, it is a fairly lengthy list

I also enjoyed the TV series but the books, as always, are much better !

Most of them are quite slim, so it shouldn't take too long. Then you can start on the "Uncle Fred" books !
Only just discovered this thread. I devoured Wodehouse between the ages of 14 and 30 and have dipped in and re-read since. He is, as you say, a true comic genius. Have you met 'Psmith' yet? Then there are the Bertie Wooster stories to savour....also the golfing tales as well as the 'Eggs, Beans and Crumpets'. I quite envy you, you have so much good stuff to discover. Ukridge.... etc... Enjoy!

Actually I am about 75% through his works by now ! Currently reading the Clergy Omnibus, which includes some Bertie Wooster that I have read many times before, but still laugh at afresh every time ! I enjoyed the one Psmith that I have and I have all the rest to read. I wish he had written more Uncle Fred though...he is my favourite ! I also enjoyed the Mr Mulliner books, as these are ideal short stories.

Can I make a general point here about second hand books ? Some of the old Wodehouse are not so easy to find but I have been using ebay and I have been amazed ! Such a good selection. I have used ebay for practically everything for the last 3 years but it only occurred to me recently to try it for books, and I am glad I did. Not just Wodehouse but everybody else you can think of.

Glad that somebody else likes Wodehouse...we ought to spread the word you know and make him popular again !
Why not? I meant to add Mr. Mulliner, but you know about him. Have you come across the 'showbiz' ones e.g. 'The Old Reliable', which reflect his Hollywood experience through 'Showboat'? There are also scattered 'gangster' ones such as 'The Little Nugget', which has the distinction of being mentioned in 'From Russia with Love'! (Not many people know that!)
Question Author
No but I will definitely find the book...thanks !
