Has anyone else read the series by this author? I have just finished Agent 6, and while I enjoyed the book very much, I was constantly irritated by the dreadful punctuation. Is there a future for me as a proof-reader? Small joke, as I spent 20 years proof-reading post-graduate theses.

there might be; publishers need proof-readers (as you've just noticed). Even I got a proof-reading job a couple of weeks ago.

Haven't read the books, though.

The 'hero' in this series, Leo Demisov, is a loyal member of the MGB. The first, Child 44, is both fascinating and disturbing. It is set towards the end of Stalin's 'Reign of terror'.

I can do this next week, as I have left the book at my son's home. A lot of the poor punctuation relates to dangling participles (see my earlier post on this topic) and the inappropriate use of commas. I can't read a published work without going into pedant mode!
