Someone I know is going travelling and posting reports on Facebook. Would I have to join it to read the postings?

No, you can search for many things on people's pages using sites like this:
http://www.openfacebooksearch.com/
Just put in your search term and see what comes up.
You have to sign in to get onto the site so I would guess you would need an account. Unless there is another way in?!
Yes you woauld have to join and add them as a friend.
There you go, Squarebear has it.
It depends on their privacy settings and what they have allowed to be shown on their public profile
oops. i stand corrected!
I remember seeing the site Square has linked during all that hoohaa in the papers about privacy etc...
depends what settings they have set on their fb account
you have to join FB to look at profiles, some profiles may not be viewable due to privacy settings, in that case you could send a friend request
Unless you use the above website. But as previous people have said they still have to have there privacy set right for you to view.
If I search on my name on SB's link I get nothing.
