For the first time today, I cut a baby's fingernails!

My youngest daughter has Harry who is three months old, and she is a litte unsure about cutting his nails, so at lunchtime, I popped down, had a sandwich with her, we bathed baby, and when he went to sleep, I cut his nails. It was wonderful - just how tiny his fingers are, and how careful you have to be, it's just something that mums do, but I have never done it before, and it made a real impression on me, so i thought I'd share it.

ahh, you big softy :o)

hopefully you'll share lots of new things with your grandson x
When all of mine were really tiny I used to bite their finger nails as i couldn't bear the thought of going near their little fingers with a pair of scissors.
Did you not cut your own kids nails?
Cherished memory. Hope you took a picture of him sleeping while you cutting his nails.
My husband never cut our childrens' nails - it would never occur to him.

Indeed sara, he is such a wonderfully happy little soul - he's just learned to laugh, and he laughs all the time, he is wonderful.

No backformore - my older daughters were six and four when my wife and I met, and she always attended to the youngest, I was a lot more nervous of babies then than i am now - Harry is Grandchild number four.

I'll do that next time society.

As I said to me daughter, this is one of the jobs that you only do for a while - far too soon children are independent. For that reason I never ever refused to pick up any of my children, knowing that in a few short years, they would be too big, and that chance would never come again, so i never wasted any oporunity. Likewise bathing, tying shoes, feeding, reading bedtime stories, tucking in - all the things that they grow out of of, but their parents never do.

Sorry - I meant parents never grow out of doing, not that the parents never do these things - it's been a long day! Nail-cutting is exhausting you know!
aww Andy, thats sweet.
I could never do it and had to get mr CRX or even my dad to cut the kids nails when they were tiny lol
Awwww can you come and do my daughters nails, I can manage her fingernails, but her toes are tickly even when she's sleeping!!
that is so sweet x
