Today is Day 4 of a spell during which all my attempts - bar three for some bizarre reason - at answering questions have been rejected. This submission is appearing courtesy of Tefler, who is posting it via a computer at her workplace. Also, I have not been able to use the 'contact us' system here, so I e-mailed the Editor independently about this, but have so far received no reply. (I wonder whether I am suffering the same fate as Dragonfly, as outlined here recently under the heading: 'Please answer emails'. If so, could that lady please tell me what her friend did to sort the problem of access out?) On my own computer, I type an answer and press 'submit'. Instantly, my screen reverts to the AB Homepage and - when I return to the appropriate question-page - I find no trace of my response. I have certainly not deserved rejection by being deliberately offensive to anyone and, as a computer-illiterate, I have no idea how this problem may have arisen in technical terms. My suggestion, therefore, Mr AB Editor, is that you explain to me and - I hope - rapidly put it right or enable me to do so. My thanks in anticipation of that.

Quizzy!!!!! ME TOO

I posted on answerbook about it last night. I have managed to get in today by turning off all my internet protection, so I guess it is some kind of compatibility problem, I have btyahoo internet and Norton internet protection and anti virus. Obviously its not an option to leave these turned off, but as I seem to be able to post again without them, I will risk this once and then await AB eds comments or any assistance from anyone who has more tech knowledge than me. . If you emailed AB through "contact us", like I did, then I suspect that the ed didn't get those either. Thanks to the posters on answerbook who helped me get this far

Quizmonster - firstly, apologies about your access problems. They are being worked on at the moment. The technical team will be contacting you directly by email to try to work out the problem. (They believe they have identified the cause and hope it will be resolved today.)

I have written twice in response to your emails, on Tuesday and again yesterday afternoon. There may be a (separate) problem there.

All emails are answered; however, as I have explained elsewhere, I don't always have time to reply to every email on the same day.

woofgang - thanks for the additional info. The techies appreciate it.
I've had the same problem but it's gone.  Whoopee!
hopefully I am back now??
yes I am, I will try to post a q next
Quizmonster - hopefully you are also back up and running?

Al hamdu lillah! Thanks to all for your help and advice. In the end, I didn't actually do anything. Switched the computer on five minutes ago, came back here to see what might have developed, signed in and wrote the above. Cheers, Ed and Techies...glad to hear others who'd suffered the same fate are back in the fold, too.

Hurrah, yes I'm back too.  Thanks to the AB team for their swift response to my email (from work) and for making all well again so quickly.

Yippee!

Yes thanks AB Editor...I've been unable to sign in since Sunday, but as you see I am back!!

I am back on too but no-one replied to my emails ... felt like a right billy-no-mates lol.

weird ... one day I could log in, the next it refused to let me, then booger me I just tried again and PRESTO!!

xxxx

Oh My Goodness! I had the smae problem all this past week, and I notices this only happened on certain "links (I was able to peruse other peoples' posts but could not do a category search, sign in etc.) I noticed tha the status bar at the bottom of my screen would read "javascript"... So I came to the conclusion that it was a problem with the java script. I had similar problems on other websites (though not as consistently) and as soon as I uninstalled some super huge useless program that I had recently installed, everything was working fine. I also downloaded javascript file de-******* and a few updates from microsoft and mozilla. Have you installed any new software on your computer or had any viruses that could have corrupted your javascript files? Anyway, I'm glad to hear from you, I was wondering where you disappeared to.
Oops, I should've read all of the posts. Well, glad to see everyone's back on track now.
