Watched the pride of britain awards earlier.
Was surorised at the ime , even though after the watersshed , russell brand talking about breast examinations and scrotal examinations for anyone interested backstage.Even though there were young kids on stage and in the audience. And later when paul ogrady made the erection joke i was a bit taken aback.

So are the authorities saying now that smut is ok ?
and will you be or habe you already complained to itv ?

Or was it harmless?

Haven't seen it...but it would seem that the goalposts have moved drastically in the last few years. It would seem that getting the viewers may be more important than any consideration of whether or not children or young teens are watching....and if there is even a hint of smut-they WILL be!! Of course the media---which is behind all such changes in our tolerance of such things...will be shouting about the way young people have no regard for the English language, are foul-mouthed...and that Society is going down the drain...

Well i in agreement with andy earlier .its ok with folk you know or tha t arecomfortable.

but there were kids on stage too
Ignorant,inconsiderate...and just not right.
It was recorded last night and edited and so it must have been deemed ok to show to it's percieved audience. A bit like here really, not alot of difference, children may read out words here, we don't have the luxury of waiting 24 hours to see if the ed has censored what we write
Question Author
Dot totally unlike here
there were kids standing right next to paul ogrady as he mad ehis erection joke.

i am assuming you never watched it then ?
Not quite like here, because this goes public immediately, whereas tonights telly has been as you say ,deemed acceptable.,and edited from its original form....Lord only knows what was taken out,.....and it makes you wonder who sets the standard???
Question Author
Good point pasty.

Thanks for the added info about recording dot.Just proves my point even more.

It is the almighty dollar,Leg.....it is assumed that people of a certain age-with money-do not want happy, safe humour and entertainment. It used to be that Fridays were set aside by C4 as smut night...for all the midnight curry fiends back from the pub. But not anymore......it is directed at us all. And it is all too easy to forget that kids see it all.
Yes leg . . . Paul O'Grady surprised me, but it was to be expected from that **** Russell Brand.

That was self-censored . . . . . .

I can only assume our friend is busy blocking the phone lines as we type ?

lol
???
I don't think kids of that age would have understood the innuendon in Paul O'Grady's erection comment.

And as for Russell Brand - breast & testicular examinations - public awareness needs to be heightened on these issues - in whatever way. I didn't think he was out of order actually. In fact for RB, it was tame.
