Surely as a family site some of the posts should so be banned and certain words, replacing certain letters with punctuation marks shouldn't be aloud oh and people with like 50 different user names.
What going on ed?

I think the ED is a figment of our imagination, they never bat an eyelid.
it IS supposed to be a family site, however certain indiviuals seems to totally disregard that and litter their posts with swear words or make up childish usernames like the first poster who replied here.

I dread to think that these people themselves may have children, as I can only assume they swear in their everyday conversations around them too.

As to what we can do- i'm afraid it's nothing. And as for what Ed and the editorial team are doing....again it's nothing.

I think its a shame it used to be such a sane site, now look at it!
It's always had its idiots SKA, well in the nearly 3 years ive been here it has.

But in the past, we always had an Ed who was more or less on the ball, and we had the 'report this reply' facility. Now we've neither.
Once upon a time there was a magical place called Answerbank.
Every day was sunny, all the people who played there were kind, full of wisdom, compassion and fun (except a couple, naturally!)
If anyone was very rude or said really nasty things, then a very important person called ED, banned them instantly, and they were never seen again. Occasionally they tried to come back under a diferent name, but the wise old ED spotted this trick and threw them out for ever...and ever... This all happened a very long, long, time ago.
The End.

There never used to be this many idiots before!!

So how come AB ASKS questions keep popping up and ed doesnt have time to bloke a few people who are leaving completely irrelevant and sometimes abusive replies!!
That's the thing SKA- there was, when the original ChatterBank was around. That's why the plug got pulled. Seems folk haven't learnt their lesson and still behave like prannies.
I agree, but I brought this up earlier but was told that kids swear anyway and they also stab and kill people! So what was I worried about eh???
I just keep reporting them and hope others do the same. If the three reported questions work then a few minutes respite from them is the goal.

Failing that, I use other sections.
I agree with all apart from the first posting - what a dreadful name! Sums up the problem big time!!!

Ditto alfieblue's comments. I'm not at all prudish but do find some usernames offensive and some comments that are made are not what I expected to see on a site such as this. Pity as it is such a helpful site generally.
Has anyone ever had a response from the ED? Perhaps if enough of us bombarb him/her with messages about certain user names etc then they might not just ban the user - but the IP address too and get them off AB for good. I'm a moderator on another site and when we have problems with people just using new names to be offensive we simply block their IP altogether.
Apparently, if everyones doing it then its ok. It makes me laugh when those who harp on about moral responsibility post what they do.

I don't understand why they don't make some users moderators. There are plenty of unclicky users who would pass unbiased judgement.

ethel for moderator!!!
I keep volunteering but I think they're concerned I'd get drunk on the power of the moderator.
