How can I avoid the same individual answering my questions with stupid answers? Any chance the ed could intervene and ban the responder?

Highly unlikely, when I once suggested that some people should never be allowed to post, I was villified...freedom of speech etc and some people thought their views were worthwhile.
So short answer I suppose is no and try not to rise to them.
