Hello all,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

How about some ideas to make lunchboxes a bit more interesting and lower in calories? Thanks for a helpful suggestion from xstitcher.

How many of us take a packed lunch to work? And how many of us are bored to tears with the same old limp ham sarnie?

So please share with us your ideas, recipes and little gems that keep your lunches interesting and healthy. And don't feel left out if you don't take a lunch to work as, of course, you can make these up at home too.

I know its from the USA but there are some really simple ideas that can be quick to do:

Personally I love different and unusual breads, plus using leftovers really appeals to me.

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Here is last months thread

Thanks Ed.

You are welcome, and on topic I have a brown pitta split and filled with a bit of Chorizo (not great I know but I love it) and spinache leaves.

Sometimes I find bread a bit stodgy so pittas are great for carbs.

Yum
Cheers.

Oh I find bread a staple. Can be great, and filling too. Fatty continental sausage is a bit of a rare treat though.
Errrrr.....lunch. Well these days it tends to be a tin of soup, sometimes with a slice of dry bread, but I confess a bag of baked crisps or a few biscuits to supplement, is not unknown
Lunch: roll ham with a filling of grated horse radish and a nice crunchy brown bread roll with Philadelphia Light topped with a slice of red bell pepper and a cup of soup.
Good Morning All, Ugh......up one kilo.....Lidl's peanuts in the shelll....need I say more.
We are having computer line problems so I may not be here to comment today as much as I would like to.
Good morning get the kettle on Xstitcher joining you on the naughty step nearly 2lbs gain but none surprised after all the birthday treats last week. Box of chocs won't worry me any more as I ate them. Now I have to rectify it.
Well i'm just relieved not to joining you on the naughty step this morning xstitcher. I had a few days away last week visiting family and its only natural for them to want to feed me well and for us to end up in a coffee and cake situation!

For my lunch yesterday i had salad leaves, radishes, tomato, low fat humous and a couple of japanese rice cakes. Today I'm on public transport for part of the journey so I'll not bother with the fuss of making and carrying a lunch box. Instead i'll take an apple and have it with a greek salad wrap bought in town.
Happy Birthday for last week Wendilla, and pleased you had good times.
Well misery loves company as they say, so welcome aboard Wendilla but just for a week mind you.

Your lunches sound so right Maydup. Your halo shines through your post...well done.
I thought last week was "a bit good". That said I did eat out Sunday and that has its affect.

Up ⅞ lbs.
Thank you Maydup and OG it only needs one day to upset all the good work.
Welcome to the naughty step OG....Wendilla has made tea
Just realised it's a colleague's leaving do tonight. Drink & meal. So another week when my weight may go the wrong direction !
I'll serve the tea, I need the exercise.

Enjoy your evening OG. You never put on much so you will get it off again and thanks Maydup for being "Mother".
It was pleasant, a Thai meal, (preceded by a couple of pints) thanks. Yes the scales said I was up which is surprising since they usually wait two to three days.

I've been know to moan, with good reason, how weight is not changing for the whole of the last 12 months, up and down and up and down, but basically static; but I have just checked what I was 12 months ago and find I've lost the grand total of 3⅝ lbs. That is the massive loss of over 5/32th ozs each and every day !
OG, It's in the right direction over all, so that's good news!
I am actually more than I was this time last year. I have always been within the healthy weight according to the BMI calculators, but at the top end of healthy, and I really wanted to go down towards the middle. But it's not going to happen. I only wanted my trousers to fit without crushing me, and I hate shopping so I'm not buying any more in the near future.
Snap Maydup
I have a whole set of clothing waiting for me to get down to what I was last year. Got to get my skates on.
Good Morning all well it was a fight between the cup cakes my daughter brought over and the fruit bowl. Need I say who won . I'll go and put the kettle on for anyone else that joins me.
