I know this should be in 'travel' - but I'll put up with the odd off-topic nonsense here in the hope of more visibility.

Things to do, places to go, sites/sights to see.

Ideas, please, for a week or so just before Easter - all suggestions welcome.

Albufeira and Lagos is the current plan, sloopy

Nice link - thanks
Which end? East or west?

I've hired a motorbike in the Algarve ...

Brrrmmmmmm ... !!! I was SO totally Lara Croft!
Don't forget the camera dave no goats this time though lol.
Oh, okay ... that end.
Go to shares on far west tip see the crazy fishermen perched on the rocks...go into lighthouse and lunch at the very nice Poussada there...
kept us in a fab weekend's scoff in hamsterjam dave, just don't know how wide the coverage is.

Enjoy the break anyway
Go down to the old harbour in Alvor. There's a little cluster of restaurants there, all fab. The fish of the day is whatever comes off the fishing boat while you're sitting having your gin and tonic.

Thanks minty/JJ both your ideas on the list now :)
Sagres......not shares....predictive thingy !
If you have transport get up to monchique up the hills visit the dam there...some nice little local places to eat....
Have you booked it yet? Easter is really early this year, Good Friday is March 29.
Albufeira is nice, some good eating places. We stayed out on the golf courses near the airport - worth wandering down to the sea where some of the beaches are protected areas. Just inland there are villages with eating places too - we went to Almancil. Not sure if the markets will be open at Easter time but chances are they will!

Flights booked, Sher - and the car hire - all very cheap :)
I love Alvor we used to go there every year for my birthday week. I miss it, but I don't think I can manage the steep cobbles down to the sea now. Monchique mountains are absolutely wonderful, so do take a 'safari' trip into the mountains. They are great fun.

Personally I don't like Albufeira. Touristy and loud. But it's OK for a base if you go to places away from it.

I like Lagos.

But nothing beats Alvor.
Whoops, sorry Boxtops. Your post about Albufeira wasn't there when I started.
Sunny Dave. Have you got room for me in your suitcase.

Wonderful wonderful smell of barbecued sardines from the little bars and restaurants along the coast.

The Algarve generally is lovely and the people of the Algarve are lovely to and love the Brits. We have close bonds.
If you play golf Penina....played it several times...
's ok, Lottie - it's better out of season. Same as the Costa del Sol - we used to go about now, when it was warm and the locals still outnumbered the holidaymakers.
