I have a nice brown Turkey fig tree in a pot. I get about six figs a year and very nice they are too. BUT I have never seen any flowers on my fig tree, just suddenly tiny figs appear. So...do figs flower and if so when and what do the flowers look like? and if figs don't flower, where do the tiny figs come from??

hello neti, glad you got my note. that's the famous fig tree over in the corner, of course bare at this time of year, I put the heating on about half an hour ago but we'll need to wait for the removers to get comfy. There's some tea and a kettle somewhere, help yourself
Figs don't really have flowers as such, the flower is actually inside the fruit! Close examination of a fig fruit will reveal a tiny hole opposite the stem end. In their natural environment a tiny wasp enters this hole and pollinates the 'flower' within. Figs don't need pollinating to produce fruit so you shouldn't worry about this aspect of growing .

Just thought I would give you that bit of info Woofgang whilst waiting for the donkey cart to arrive.

Hello Biddies. Mmm, not bad at all. Bigger than the old Grotto and a nice strong door! Glad you two have brewed some tea. I've bought you a nice fruit cake. Have we actually got central heating. That's a bit new fangled isn't it.

Woofgang, how is Hannah?

We'll have to keep an eye on Vinny and the Fig Leaves!!!!

I expect the Ed has hidden this back in the Suggestions Section in April last year! Three cheers for the Ed. I think we should have a picture of the Ed to hang on the wall in this place. May I suggest this one:

AB Ed

Please can we have a Biddycat and a Biddydog. There is always someone around to look after them and they would make the place so homely:

Biddycat

Biddydog

They are both in need of a good home, please, pretty please.............................

and I promise to clear up all the cat and dog poo! It's something I'm very good at!!
Hi Gessoo I've arrived thanks for the tea it was pretty cold when I got out of bed this a.m. And cake loverly!!!
I've emailed pickle so when he's finished listening to opera he can come in. I hope smudge finds us.

Who has left all their luggage in the hallway? Remove it at once.

luggage

Robinia wants the place left tidy, or is it Woofy in charge now???

gessoo re your advice in grotto to Jude about going into Threads, my won't come up, does yours.
Yes

By heck our Jude you didn't half get over here sharpish. There was I giving you directions and you were here. Are you some sort of athlete?

gessoo she could give Mr G a run for his money if he can fly to Sweden and back in a day and she can run like that, phew!

Question Author
No woofy isn't in charge....hope Robinia doesn't mind, but when i got the email from Ed I thought I'd tell you straight away in case she was nudging us to get moving and not wait until our original proposed new home had fallen off the page and into hiding

I got here that quick cos I was scared of missing something!!

Neti haven't cracked th getting an icon on desk top yet but will keep trying. In the meantime going through My Profile to get to where I'm supposed to go!!

Jude I can't really explain it as my computer is in Spanish so "crear acesso directo" won't help you and I don't know what it says on an English one, but the idea is the same surely, It's much easier.

Robinia is on her way, all weepy and nostalgic. Ah bless.

Question Author

quick, Robinia's coming...all together now

hip hip hooray, hip hip, hooray, hip hip hooray

for....she's a jolly good fellow and so say all of us!!

here's a sneaky back door for popping back when we feel like some nostalgia

I come bearing gifts
this is for woofy for putting us up

thankyouxxx

and this is for the rest of you with apologies to the toothless wonders amongst us

haha

oh nearly forgot, these are for Vinny - there's no way his old ones are coming in here with us

environmentallyfriendly

I'm going to settle myself in quietly but please note that we can't get too fond of this place as this is part of the Email I have recieved from Ed while I was out....

A 500 post threshold sounds about right. For house tidying purposes, I
would like to keep the Grotto thread in AB Suggestions.

Right - who's brought the tin opener??? erm.....well???

Ooooh thank you - I'm filling up now.......
.....but we can move to another thread after 500 can't we?????
