How about leaving the name of the poster in situ when a post is removed for being insulting, rude or deemed hurtful and unnecessary. Some Abers might think twice if they were going to be named and shamed.
Just a thought.

I just think nothing should be removed full stop. I can't really think of anything anyone could post on here that would offend me so much I would want it removed. And things that are that bad should be left so that everyone call tell that poster what a knob they are.

and neither can I.....but we are clearly in the minority.
Afternoon all!

No.

Spare Ed.
there's a small but significant difference between a poster posting their views thoughts and opinions and another poster ridiculing and abusing or bullying them because the respondant does not agree
I agree with Milly and Sqad. (:0)
Milly you either have a short memory or were not around when the majority of users were up in arms when disgusting/obscene posts were left all one weekend until the Ed came in on Monday. These led directly to the mods being given the ban option rather than just letting them suspend people.
Nor me....except there was one really nasty post that while it didn't get to me exactly was really really obscene and unpleasant and not what you'd want a child or young teen to see, would probably have shocked quite a few of you too..deffo not what should neon AB broad church though it is.
Also while there are toughies among us, people do post on here in genuinely sad and difficult circs and some of the nastier responses they get back can e very hurtful.
By nor me I meant that nasty posts don't upset or shock me.
No Craft. I remember it. I'm just not easily offended by faceless strangers.
craft......if I can speak for milly.....and myself.......the vile accusations from obscene trolls form a very small part if the post removal and suspensions.

We are considering the vast "other" majority.
One of the most popular ABer's is a 17 year old girl...............would you be happy for her to read some of the filfth that was posted?
I refer to you my earlier answer at 2:43pm.
craft I'm not 17 who told you that?
that was the spare ed not you ed, forgot to sign out eh? : )
I don't care if she reads it. The internet is full of far worse things. And she's 17. Not 6.
The really important thing for everyone to remember is that this isn't a democracy!

Dotty, you should assume the AB Editor is the Spare Ed most of the time. Because I am!
this post has gone down two different roads now.

Chrissa's initial question wasn't whether insulting/abusive posts should be removed, but rather when they are removed, an auto post is submitted (by Ed&Co?) stating that such a body's post was sent into cyber space.
you're assuming you are or you are?
lmao @ dotty!
