Having checked several encyclop�dias and reference-books as well as appropriate websites, I can find no reference to specific names for these animals. Perhaps this is one of the occasions where you must fall back on the addition of 'he/she' to the front of the word...he-beaver/she-beaver. The young, however, are generally called kits or kittens.

All I can find is exactly what you said hquilliam, and that is Male and Female. They should have names like Boar and Sow which is much more fitting!

ogy.shtml they are called Boar, Sow, and the young kits or kittens although on a wildlife program they were referred to as pups. Guess it all depends who pulls your chain.

I don't think there is any official authority which determines which is called what, so call them whatever takes your fancy.
