I just took this photo of parakeets in a tree in our garden. How do they survive these winters ?

can't see the pic but if they are the ring necked parakeets they have got used to our winters over many years...they roost in holes in trees where they get some shelter

They are bright green by the way, they dont get close enough to see a ring !
can't open links at work if they are green they will be the ring necks...noisy annoying but very cute
It opened for me smurfchops . I bet that trees scary on a windy day.
Like Rowan said, if they're all green they are certainly ringneck parrots. They are the progeny from escapees over the year and seem to be well established nowadays. They are extremely hardy and the only problem the snow would bring is that they won't be able to find their seed so easily, the same as for other birds. They breed in holes in trees and pose some competition for woodpeckers etc.

treetops, that tree is quite a way away, in fact it is next door's ! It doesn't seem to sway in the wind though.
