To be honest I had no idea what they were until I visited a visitors centre where there was lots of info on these amazing birds.

I see blackbirds, starlings and sparrows flying overhead every day but never are they boring!

Quite right Ratter, i have a blackbird on my roof with a lovely song every morning and evening. By the way,the red kites can be distinguished between the more common buzzard by the forked tail

I have red kites too and they are stunning creatures, fully deserving of the name kite.
They are about 6 feet across you know. That's not small.
