We are going to go to crufts this year but have not booked as yet so can anyone tell me if a daschund is classed as a hound dog or toy dog, ( 2 different days) as I would like to get as much information and personal experience from this breed. as we are intrested in getting one.

thanks

Hound
A snack ;-p
Snags, step away from the seedy baps.
Always wondered, is it daschund or dachshund
.
The first gives 1/2mil results and the latter 4.5mill results in google.
It's the second.
Yeah, I know ^^^ lol
Definitely Dachshund and definitely in the Hound Group. However no matter what day you visit there will be several Daxies there in the Discover Dogs area, as each breed has representatives there on each day. There will be some of each size/coat, e.g. Miniature and Standard Smooth, Wire and Long Haired, so you will be able to see them all and chat to their owners about the pros and cons of each type. If you want to watch them actually being judged then you will need to go on Hound day. Each size/coat will have their own classes and be in different rings. As its so expensive to go in, here's a tip - turn up early, look for someone on their own struggling with dogs, bags, cages, etc. and offer to help them carry their stuff in. They will have passes for each dog that will get a person in with them, so find someone with several dogs!
Dachshunds are being judged on the Saturday in Hall 4. The ring numbers and number of dogs entered are: Long-Haired Ring 24 (114), Mini Long-Haired Ring 23 (182), Smooth Haired Ring 21 - early start 8.30 (75), Mini Smooth-Haired Ring 21 (145), Wire-Haired Ring 16 (110) and Mini Wire-Haired Ring 22 (131) with all rings starting judging at 9 am except the Smooths at 8.30.
LOL Lankeela, doesn't everyone struggle with grooming gear, mats and dogs? Good idea for getting in free though. We came out of LKA at NEC last year and were late as we'd had a party. We bumped into a group of people going to see Lenny Henry. We were 5 people and 5 large mastiffs. One of the group asked what LKA stood for and an overawed voice was heard to offer, 'Large Kanine Association'? We giggled our way to the car park.
Hi thugs, see you are in Hall 5 this year, I'll try to get over but will be running between Heelers and GSD rings! Hall 2 - Hall 4, so will have my work cut out. Hoping to go back on Sunday for Discover Dogs with the pup.
Hi lankeela, we've promised to do Discover Dogs again in the afternoon after we've been judged. Of course that could include the big ring? Lol, that'll be the day
Me too, taking the GSD pup for a stint on DD after judging, but not the Heelers (dog club politics!). Probably see you there.
