Dog with enlarged pancreas

My mum's dog (female Lakeland Terrier, 8 years old) has just been diagnosed with an enlarged pancreas. How serious is this, can it be treated?

Putting food out for fox's, birds, etc.

I think the cat is planning to eat me

Could be diabetic too, they nearly always go together.

Could your Mum cope with giving her injections for the rest of the dogs life?

I think she's willing to do whatever is needed as long as the dog (Ripley) has a good quality of life. She had a load of blood tests done on friday, which showed up the enlarged pancreas, so I assume that would've shown up diabetes?

did mum gets any information from the vet ?

they couldn't really tell her much from the blood tests, only that there are a number of possible causes (cancer, infection etc) and they're doing an ultrasound tomorrow to see how bad the damage is.

Got it wrong, she IS diabetic now, which could also have caused the swelling. She also has a 'foriegn body' in her stomach, don't know if she's eaten something she shouldn't have or it could be a tumour. Ultra sound also showed that her stomach is the wrong shape?? Don't know why or what that means though.....doesn't sound good does it? Vet is keeping her in tonight and giving fluids, operating tomorrow to check out the 'foriegn body' in her stomach.
