i am looking around for a prom dress, and i was thinking about colours- i have quite pale but not completely pinky/white skin, darkish blue eyes and goldy blonde hair. What colours would you suggest to match my colouring? i wanted black, as apparently it looks good on me, but a friend said it would make me look washed out. I was also thinking about light blue. Any ideas? thanks xxx

When you say :black "apparently looks good on me" does that mean you have gotten compliments before? If so, why are you so sure your friend is right that you'll look washed out? Just be sure your makeup and accessories are strong (I don't mean overdone!) enough to go for the glamour look. Wearing black against pale skin should be very glamourous. However, on a teen, it sometimes looks presumptuous, like she's trying too hard to be Oscar-worthy. Only you know your personal style.

If you want to choose a color instead of black, go through your closet and pick out the clothes you get the most compliments on, and look for dresses in those colors.

Blue can be very fetching on blue eyed blondes, and there are so many shades of blue that you are sure to find one that suits your specific skin tones, eyes, etc.

Or don't set your heart on anyparticular color, go llooking for dresses with an open mind, and pick the one that makes you feel like a princess! If you set your heart on light blue and then find a devastatingly gorgeous dress in a pink floral, you'll be torn.

aww thanks. i thought black would be good, as it is easy to accessorise lol. i'm just gona look around with no specific colour in mind, thanks for the advice. what do you all think about accessories- what ones are appropriate? im in england not america btw lol

try on dresses in every colour, even if you don't particularly like the colour - i hate red but found a fantastic red dress, was put off by the colour but eventually tried it on & it actually really suits me. now i love my dress!

as far as accessories are concerned, if it's strapless go for a necklace like a choker that covers some of the area above the neckline as well (something beaded, maybe?) other jewellery is less important, it's all about the shoes. and the bag, as well
