We are new pig owners and a little confused as to how much our Kune Kune's need to eat daily. Can anyone advise?
Also, after a debate with another pig owner, can they eat grass cuttings??

where did you get the pigs from? why don't you ask them?
I don't know about pigs but grass mowings are dangerous to horses and should not be fed (except maybe a tiny tiny amount and then only if extremely fresh - imo better not to anyway). as well as possible contamination from oil or petrol if the grass is cut by a machine, lawn is often fertilised and quite rich. However, the main problem is that lawn mowings get very hot when heaped together - put your hand in a pile of clippings and see what I mean. Very bad for horses but can't comment for pigs. Great animals Kunes aren't they - we used to have a couple where I lived, very tame, highly intelligent and I taught them to sit and hold out a trotter for a food reward!
How much they need depends upon the type of food, when I kept pigs (large whites and saddlebacks so quite big). I used to feed them a basic diet of 3lbs per day of pig nuts and they foraged for roots if they felt hungry. Root crops such as potatoes, carrots etc are best cooked to aid digestion. Pigs will eat grass but it would be safer and better for them if they chose it themselves whilst it is still growing.
