wot odd bird?

has black & white rear feathers and mottled brown front, size of a magpie. Surely not a crossed magpie & pigeon ?

will try & get piccy....it perches on water trough momentarily. The hawthorn berries are attracting lots of birds.

Im also tempted to say a young Jay.

cant see blue feathers apart from the irridescence on black feathers, throat & chest is mottled/freckles brown. It's bigger than a blackbird & smaller than a pigeon; can't find piccies of young Jays ?
