Do the plug in insect/bug/spider repellents work?
And can someone please tell me some good makes/brands as I don't know what to search for.
Do they also repel carpet beetles?
Thanks for any help.

I've no idea about carepet beetles, it may be a good idea to ask your Environmental Health Dept at ypur local Council for advice. We have used the plug in insect repellent (mozie's) abroad and they have worked ok but you may need to spray too. Ask for advice as it depends on your bug, some may even need professional treatmentr
If however you mean the ones that plug in and are supposed to send an electric field throughout your house wiring, they are a scam. They have even proclaimed to scare mice and rats away.

The ones that take a poison impregnated pad or puff an insecticide every few minutes work pretty good, but you need to ask yourself if you want to permanently live in an insecticide environment.

I would recommend that you follow Rosetta's advice and ask at an pest control centre for a suitable spray for the carpet. Also ask there is a witholding period for pets and babies (who live close to the floor).
Oneof these plug ins affected my neighbour's chest and she was hospitalised for a while until her breathing difficulties were sorted out.She had it in the bedroom.
