I tried the Food & Drink section but no-one seems to know the answer - hope I don't offend anyone by posting it here!!!!

This might be a bit of a daft question but how many kidneys does a lamb have? We purchased some from the abattoir for the first time and there must have been a total of 8 all joined together in 2s by an intact extremely thick connective tissue/gristle. I can't imagine how the butcher would have joined them together himself.

Lambs/Sheep only have two kidneys, like humans have.

Are you sure you did not get Calves/Beef kidney? They look like you described.
