There is a plant called The Scardy Cat Plant from a well known plant nursery which works quiet well.
Here's a couple of things to try:

1. Grapefruit halves - cats don't like citrus smells much, and will avoid it (although saying that, a mate's cate used to eat lemons. And dried pasta. Any mayonnaise. So there you go.)

2. Poo! Cats avoid the territory of bigger cats, and London Zoo used to provide bags of tiger / lion dung for a small donation. A few strategic bits of tiger **** should keep all but the boldest moggies away.
water works well a large spray bottle squirted up the jacksie
or a bucket full does the trick
i have a neighbour who sits just inside the back door with a large water pistol, just hoping for a cat to threaten his flower bed, well at least it keeps him amused, and he insists that the most troublesome cats now keep away.
It's hard to get a cat with a sprayer as they are so quick and you won't get near enough, so you have to be sneaky. I have a cat, but I tell my neighbour to turn the hose on her if she's a problem. It won't hurt her, but will shock her enough to deter her. Or you could leave the sprinkler in the area where the cat goes, ready to turn on when it arrives. As a deterrent the RSPB recommends the ******** (www.conceptresearch.co.uk). No idea if it works, but I know the sillouettes don't as I have seen my cat walking past one. Hope that helps.
Dont know what happened there but the name is the ********
Interesting, won't print the name, Anyway, you will find it on the site, ends with watch.
