we've recently got a replacement cockeral,that has vvvvv long spurs,need advice as to if/how to trim them back,no really want to go to vet if can be avoided,ideas please.cheers

I just trim my cockerels' spurs with nail clippers (heavy duty ones!) You could use dogs' nail clippers, if you have any. Same as dogs, don't cut too far up the spur, or you'll go into the quick & it'll hurt the bird. If you just trim off the pointy bits, then it'll be easier on the hens, if you know what I mean!!
