I always look forward to getting fresh British rhubarb and cherries but they are getting harder to find in the shops. Last year I asked our local fruit shop (now closed down sadly) if he was getting British cherries in and told me 'only if the price is right'. He never got any in and I never came across any in the shops. Anyone else had this prob? An when's the last time you saw a gooseberry in a shop!

i loved gooseberries or gossegogs as we call them occasionally i see them in my local green grocers but not often
Find out where your local allotments are and have a wander round. When I was younger I had an allotment with loads of rhubarb, gooseberries, and blackcurrants growing in abundance. I was glad to give some away and I am sure if you have a look you will find similar. Even if they charge a bit, you will still have it fresh, straight from the ground. Lovely!

MMmmm... I got some rhubarb from Sainsbury's so I had a nice crumble yesterday. It's such a shame that good quality British produce is seemingly becoming more difficult to get.
Do you remember white heart English cherries? The only place I know that sels them ( for a week or so) is M+S. Mmmm - now't like them.
