Goldfish - eye problem

I have 4 goldfish in a small pond in the garden - they're a few years old, about 5-6 inches long. One has a bulbous eye which worries me a bit. It (how do you sex a goldfish?!) behaves like the others, swimming and eating ok. Should I do anything or just let nature take its course, however slow that may be??
