Hey all!

Hope for some quick answers here if possible!

At 8pm this evening we are heading up to m sisters for the weekend and taking Cleo with us. We have bought some Joy ride tablets from the chemist, as my sister swears by them for her 2 dogs when travelling.

Just wondering how much I should give her? She has not been a good traveller before and whines and cries for the first while and on a couple of occasions been sick.

I'm thinking 1 tablet half hour before we leave, but just unsure as this is the first time she will have had them?

Many thanks

Before long car journeys, my children used to take these tablets, which work very well. However, your vet can offer you medication that's specifically for dogs suffering from motion/travel sickness.
Joy Riders contain hyoscine hydrobromide, which is can cause drowsiness in humans, but could have unpleasant side effects if given to your dog. Why not call your vet and check on this first, because some motion sickness pills designed for animals may be alright. Hope Cleo travels well.

When we have travelled up there before, we went to the vets and they gave us tablets for the journey but said it was a once off as we should get her used to travelling.

We have tried this, but she is still not good at all really!

I wasnt sure at all before at using human tablets, but I have seen lankeela mention them in a previous post, and also my sister in law who uses them everytime they have a long journey is a chemist, (athough not a vet!) it reassures me alot more!

Im hoping that they will make her slightly drowsy as they do with my sisters dogs, otherwise she sits and whines and whinges, ties herself up in her car strap and strains to reach forward to see me!
