You can't stop him/her, it's natural hunting behaviour.

They roll in poo because they don't want to smell like a dog, or if it's after a bath, a clean shiney dog.
And I'm a dog, so I know ;-)

i do thats just from my bk garden i think its cat poo
Yes, it's a pleasant habit!! Keep a good can of dry shampoo in your car so you don't have to drive home with your head out of the window. Also, teach him a good recall and learn the signs that tell you he is about to roll so you can call him away. My dog sniffs, then licks whatever it is, then moves alongside in a particular way. If I can tell him know in time, SOMETIMES he will just pee on whatever it is.

He rolled in a dead seagull once - I've never smelt anything like it, and I keep pet skunks!!
we get foxes round here and all of our dogs have occasionally rolled in the muck....gross!! We have never managed to stop it entirely but we have certainly made our views felt when they do it and this has helped to make it a rarer treat!
here is a good cure for a smelly dog WARNING don't get the solution into eyes or ears, you use it at your own risk

wolfgang i would worry about the dog getting it into his eyes as this would be a very strong mixture - you are better washing him dog shampoo - so I think
believe me, shampoo doesn't touch dog muck...the idea is that you only use it on the rolled on bits, not all over but you are right about eyes and ears hence the warning
...sorry meant "doesn't touch fox muck"
We always carry a small tube of dog correcter with us and if he does anything he shouldnt we give the button on top a press and it makes a hissing sound which dogs dont like and it stops him in his tracks.
