I've received three emails, from three different people, asking if I will accept them on myyearbook.com.

One of the names is familiar to me, the other two aren't. (Although it only gives a first name, so if is a bit difficult to know for sure if you know the person or not).

Anyhoo, I clicked 'Yes' on the person I think I know, and it asked for my Hotmail address. I haven't got one.

Shall I create a Hotmail addy or shall I just leave it? Don't want the person who I might know, to think I am ignoring her.

If its a person familiar from here they posted an apology on Thursday night, accidently sent the request to all the e mail addresses in their account , I got one and ignored it
Question Author
Thanks for reply tickledtrout.

I think that apology was from Dot, and I'm not in her address book, and none of the three emails are from Dot.

I've had a couple, one said it was from someone called Pete, almost everyone knows someone called Pete so I think these are phishing type emails.I have no idea what they would gain by it except for having thousands of email addresses to sell on to spammers.I just deleted the one I got.
Yea I got one from maureen and i have never heard of myearbook before but I do know a maureen on here

Hey knobbs, one of mine was from Maureen, and the only Maureen I know is on here. She's the only one I tried to accept, but I don't particularly want a Hotmail address, and by the way I read it, it sounded like you need one.

It might not be the Maureen we know though - as daffy said, they could be phishing-type emails.

PS: Sorry to mention fish.

No fish here please
Ahh a good time to ask

I often see the little [:o) - I guess they are supposed to be smileys

But do they work on AnswerBank?

mrs.chappie - hello and thank you - but . . . .

I do not see anything other than [:o)

Exactly like that - but no smiley

Question Author
Well it looks like a smiley to me, sir ...... and it's got one long eyebrow an' all.

mrs.chappie

May I ask?

Do I have to enable them somehow on this site to see them as smileys?

All I am getting is the characters I type. And even yours do not show up as smileys. Grrrrrrrr
Yea me to [:o)
Question Author
You can go into character map and use something off there, sir, but they don't show up very well on here.

I don't think you can use a 'proper' smiley character on AB - if ya could, I reckon we'd have seen someone using them on here.

I'm not very clued up though, and perhaps someone could put us right!

[:o/
Thanks again mrs.chappie
Question Author
You're very welcome sir!

[:o)
You've got to look at it sideways haven't you
craft1948 . . . .

well that is very clever!
Question Author
That's a good idea, craft - I kept turning me laptop on its side to view the little character, and it's kinda heavy.
