Hi, thanks for the response, im not sure but i have had 2 litters from my bitch in the past and she seems to have got slighty bigger since her season in June when lado was about. With him only being 6 months old at the time i did not think he could produce what it takes even though i saw him trying a few times. When he did try my bitch was having none of it, but when im at work who knows what may have happened.

Sorry folks, but you are now going to witness an extremely venomous reply to this question. Switch off now if you don't want to read it!

How absolutely ignorant can you be, if you have already bred from your bitch twice surely you know the rudiments of dog breeding, well obviously not. How could you leave an entire dog with a bitch in season, what did you expect to happen, he would say 'I can't mate with you because you are my mum'?
Fortunately there is very little likelihood that the pups would be deformed, although very closely inbred. In some cases breeders deliberately do this mating, if there was a good reason to do so, such as a very small gene pool.

Also if she was in season in June I would have thought she would have given birth by now, as the gestation period is only 9 weeks. Even if it was the end of June when she was mated she should have whelped by now.

For your dogs' sakes, get your bitch spayed and your dog castrated.

And don't come back on here asking who the hell I think I am, or giving some sob story, because we have heard it all before and people like you give decent dog breeders a bad name.

End of rant.
Well said Lankeela, when will people learn!
There is a very high chance of geneitc defects from in-breeding, dont do it.
It may not be notciable from the outset but many dogs have health problems from this. It is also effects their puppies and their puppies pups down the line.

Not a lot of people know this but animals are very similar to us, in the fact they don't want to mate with their children, thats why your bitch isn't showing an interest in her son.
Animals in the wild don't even do this.

In-breeding is wrong and dangerous, and if you aren't willing to do it, then nor should your dogs.
jenniprice, sorry but what you say is totally wrong. Animals will willingly mate with close relatives, especially in the wild.
A bitch will encourage any dog to mate her if she is ready to be mated.

Also genetic defects are not caused by inbreeding, yes they can be perpetuated if BOTH parents carry a defective gene, but even if you outcross two totally unrelated dogs, if both of them carry a faulty gene then the puppies could be affected.

Thanks for the response from 2shortplanks, as for the others i would rather you kept your views to yourself. It is very easy to sit there and criticise others, and as it turns out my bitch if fine so Lankeela get of your soap box and stop trying to lecture me. I was looking for advise not to be spoken to like a child. For your information i kept the dogs apart most of the time when i was not about. I just wanted to know if a bitch would let her son that was all. I have had 2 understanding and sensible replies, and then theres yours. The next time i wish to be spoken down to i will bare you in mind.
You're very welcome.
