I've heard that conker oil can be used in the home to deter spiders. Is this an old wives' tale/superstition or is it real science?

Heard of putting conkers in certain parts of the room like the windowsills and alike, i havent used this method, as havent had many spiders come a calling and also isnt the season to get any!!!
i've heard that conkers deter spiders and have put conkers in the corners of my rooms.

i think its made a difference because i haven't had so many spiders around, ..to the relief of my other half... lol! :-)

Jane big strong men lol!!!!
I have also heard this, if using real conkers, i was advised to pierce them. definately something i have been doing ever since, and have seen many fewer of the little pests. I did, however, get 2 cats shortly after so not sure if the conker is working or if the cats are just eating the spiders befor3e i see them. Either way, i am much happier.
he's such a wuss puddicat....
he can't settle if we've seen one, and shouts at me to....
"get it....QUICK!!!"

i won't kill them coz (an old wives tale) its bad luck....
There is a spray [UK] called No More Spiders which is pure chestnut oil in a spray form.
Last year I caught and released loads of the critters, this year after spraying the non toxic chestnut juice [it is odourless] I have only seen 2 spiders indoors so it really works!
