I have a 6yr old westie and as long as i can remember every 2 - 4 wks he has a day where his stomach makes some incredible noises, he won't eat for the whole day. The next day he is fine and eats as usual, he is never unwell within himself just an incredibly noisy stomach.
Does anyone else have a westie with the same problem, and do they know what causes it, or how i can prevent it?
I have mentioned it to the vet who just shrugged his shoulders!

one of mine girls used to get that occasionally (not a westie though), it was a touch of colitis, and she sometimes had a bout of diahroah the next day. I have cured it with fit and fertile protect and rebuild.

My dogs occasionally make gurgling sounds, but are never unwell with it.
Pickles has this problem sometimes. She gets colitis and has a simple diet.

I think she eats odd things sometimes and has a squeaky tummy and runny poo the next day but always bounces back.

She is a Bedlington Terrier btw.
My old cat has the same problem. Her stomach sounds like a drain for a while and she won't eat then after a few hours she's fine. My vet puts it down to the thyroid problem because everything seems to speed up including her digestion!
i dont know about noisy stomach but my parents in law westy can break wind for britain! Honestly it stinks!
LOL Firewatch, you could be describing mine.
Our previous dog used to look around at his behind, you could see him thinking ----where did that come from?, nothing to do with me!!!
firewatch if you want a flatulent dog i'll give you my 4 yr old minpin lol she has been like this since i got her at 11 wks, we're just about keeping it at bay with Royal Canin Sensativity control, dried food, unless she has a titbit it sets her off again LOL as for a noisy tummy, Seusse gets this often and same as the others she's fine the next day, no upsets or anything and the vets shrugged thier shoulders too, (3 of them) they find the wind problem hilarious cos shes only tiny *10"high*, but she was poisoning us at one time b4 we got her feeding sorted out, sorry for the long post
