What did you do for your kids 1st Birthday?

I want some nice memorabilia for her future, any ideas?!

Am tempted to do the film of messages (which Ross and Rahcel did for Emma in Friends?!) from family and friends which you keep until their 18th.

we went to the Zoo (for 4gets enjoyment more that little CRXs lol) and then had a small family birthday party.

We didnt do anything that could be kept, youve made me feel bad now :(
You can get perssonalised plates with your childs details on them, and people write their birthdayt message to them, all you have to do is fire them in the oven afterwards! I think they are super, and plan to get one done for my son when he turns one!

My son was ill that week so we had a small family party. We ended up having a 'hog roast' in the garden and a ball pool! It was a good day x

I saw the plates and they're really nice. A friend had one made for my daughter when she was born which was gorgeous but it had all her birth details - date, weight, name etc over a gorgeous animated childrens picture.

Im thinking of going to a local park, wanted a BBQ (disposable) but i dont think local parks allow them!?

ps- dont feel bad red i'm sure ur eldest has millions of fabulous memories even if its photographs!! Sometimes i just go OTT because i love looking back through my VERY LIMITED childhood photographs!
oh yes, we have loads of pics! and he had a great day and at party he got a swing and ball pool etc .

The plates are great, or you can take him to a pottery place and get her handprints on a cup or something.

I think disposable BBQs are banned in most places as they get so so hot.

might be worth asking though. Or take her to a zoo or somewhere which has BBQs for customers use?

Ball Pool sounds like a good idea, only going to be a couple of kids there - maybe 4 or 5, and about a zillion friends and family.

If it rains that day we'll be fooked too - so relying on the English weather... always risky!!

What do you think about the film of messages?! That going too far?! What would i ask people say to the camera?!
redcrx what did we do for his 2nd? its bugging me
We also went to a small zoo.
I invited all the people that were important in his life at the moment.
Funny enough no small children.

I made a cake with a candle and after seeing all the animals (and feeding them with popcorn), we had coffee there and cut the cake.

In the evening we went for Chinese.

We took lots of photographs, and every guest got a rubber duck to keep and remember the event.

I think he and everybody else had lots of fun.

If my parents did a film message for me, I would have been chuffed! I would deffinatly do it!

what about collecting things that are going on on the day of her birthday i.e. Newspaper of the day, music that was in the charts, sweets that are eaten now (be very retro), lock of their first hair.....

Put all in a keepsake box along with film!
but who knows what equipment there will be to play it on in 18yrs time????? If my parents had given me a film reel I'd be looking at it thinking how the hell will that fit the slot on my dvd player
Think DVD format will be around for a long time! I would burn to CD!

I like the rubberduck idea bohne.

There are animals in the park we're going to (even though she's almost completely oblivious to them!).

I lik ethe retro though andrea - really good idea. We all love the old fashioned sweets! ANd the paper idea is good, have got the paper form the day she was bron too, although the headline is something about the NHS which is boring but we cant have it all!

lmao 4getmenot, well i reckon they'll still have a device that plays DVDS, and my camera has a memory card so i can just save it onto my laptop and transfer it on to whatever it is that plays videos in 18 years time lol!
but will they have laptops????? Mmmmm
Question Author
Well when they switch from laptops to hovering mechanisms that do all the typing for you then i'll transfer the data..........somehow.......!!
ah but what if you dont have a hoojamiflip?
Question Author
But i will have a hoojamiflip!!!

Come on you know everyone will own one by at least 2012.
yes the price is coming down a bit, as apposed to thingamijigs
Question Author
Yeah the price is dropping only slightly, i heard that the Manooplaflupa was the next hottest thing on the market, but it costs a bloomin fortune!
yer well I already got one so there
Hi Nat!

I can not believe we are talking about your baby's first birthday!!! Already?? where has the year gone??

The video message is a nice idea. Unfortunatly when both my girls had their first birthdays their Dad was ill (both times, Christmas's too!!) so we just had a small get together with my Mum, step-Dad, sister and her husband. Never thought to do a keepsake type of birthday, good idea tho :o)

I still can't believe it's almost a year!! I hope she has a lovely day whatever you do (I'm sure she will!) :o)
