Will those ultrasonic devices help to prevent a neighbours dog from barking? If so can you recommend a link to a product.

My dogs bark when there is something to bark at, and I would be extremely miffed if you set up a device to stop them barking, without my knowledge, particularly if they were barking at an intruder. All dog training devices need to be used by competent people who have a knowledge of dog behaviour to avoid any cruelty to the animal and I suggest you speak to your neighbour to ask permission before even considering such action. The correct procedure would be for you to contact your local council environmental health department who would contact the neighbour to alert them to the complaint of a problem and if it persists then monitoring can be undertaken by the council to ascertain the extent of the problem, after which appropriate action can be taken.
Speaking to neighbours doesn't always work when dealing with nuisance dogs barking all the time.I tried this and got a mouth full of abuse off her in return. The council haven't done anything to help either despite me reporting the problem to them. They just told me to keep a diary of when it happens.........which is all the time!
I am one of said neighbours who would really like to find a way to stop my Ashke barking!

He used to only bark when other dogs went past, now he barks at every one and everything, and ignores the command he used to listen to telling him to stop!

I was going to post at the weekend asking if the ltrasonic anti bark devices worked, before I ordered one to try and stop him!

Any advice appreciated!

Also I may add, I am no the kind of neighbour who gives a mouthful of abuse, as I too would like the barking to stop, its just trying to find out how!
daffy654 - you don't live next door to me do you? LOL.
Errrr,I don't know lankeela. My neighbour has one dog,he's a beautiful long haired German Shepherd dog.He is one of those that only barks when the owners are out,but he barks at everything! If someone knocks on a door 4 doors down he barks,if anyone walks down the street he barks.Literally anything will set him off. He's a big dog so has a very loud, deep bark that goes right through you.lol. I tried asking the lady next door if she could please do something to train him out of it and the response I got was "my dog doesn't bark when i'm out you stupid f***ing b***h".How the heck would she know what he does when she's out?
One of mine barks when I as much as put my 'dog walking coat' on, or open the lid to their food bin, then they all start, fortunately I think both sets of elderly neighbours are deaf!

I would quite understand if they did complain though as it can get a bit much when they all charge down the garden barking at the pigeons, and anything else that shouldnt be in or within 100 feet of 'their' garden.
Bet her house won't get broken into though daffy.

Why are there so many selfish people about. If you knew your dog was upsetting the neighbours do you need to be told the barking is giving them grief. Most objectors will not go to the council to have it stopped but suffer in silence.(thats when the dog is not barking....no pun intended).
Some people are not aware their dogs bark when they are not there especially if they don't bark when they are there - and of course if they do bark when the owners are there, they usually stop when told to be quiet, but if there is no-one home they can carry on barking.
