My 10 mth old springer is experiencing a false pregnany. She was in season for the 1st and only time last November, but late Feb she developed large mammary glands with milk. She has no 'nesting' tendancies and has been on 'drying' medication for two weeks. I can see a little improvement but her nipple area is now very loose. In fact you would think she had given birth to several litters. I am obviously taking her to the vets but wounder5ed o9f any AB friends could give some advice or suggestions.

Many thanks

What is this "drying" up medication you say? When my dog had a false pregnancy I spoke to my vet and he said that if the dog is well and not bothering her then you can leave it and it will sort itself out.

However my girl was miserable and kept hiding away and he prescribed something called Galastop which made it all go away in about 3 days. she was back to nomal very quickly.

She is on her second course of Galastop - my vet was surprised it hadn't done the trick - and with only two more days to go it still doesn't seem to be working.

I am very concerned

Thanks for your reply.
