I always feed two of my cats at a high level, e.g. a window sill (or somewhere that can be cleaned up after they eat) My other blind cat has to be fed at floor level and if I forget to take his dish after he has eaten, the dogs will eat it as soon as my back is turned - even though they know it's a punishable offence! Alternatively, supervise the cat whilst it eats and take the dish away afterwards. Dogs shouldn't really eat too much cat food (too much protein) - just try telling your puppy that! Good Luck.
Ya. good idea with the high level. If you don't like that, try putting it in a room where the dog can't go. I used to use a hanger to keep the door open just a wee bit for my cat to get in..but my dog wouldn't fit.
Just thought, a child's stairgate is excellent for keeping dogs out of a room. These can often be picked up secondhand quite cheaply. Very useful with a puppy for lots of reasons.
