should i seperate my sick fish

i have a sick baby gold fish only 1 1/4 inches long. he has white spots all over his body and fins and he does not have a good appetite like the other ten gold fish i have. would he be ok in a 1.5 gallon glass bowl (usally made for bettas) without a filter until he is healty?

I am not an expert on fish, although my son did have an aquarium in his bedroom for 10 years, but would definitely recommend the poorly fish is isolated. When you set up aquariums they dont tell you that you may need two of everything, and it can get quite expensive!

Dont know about the glass bowl, is this is a fish tank bowl?, but you would need to use the water out the original tank, and at least an air pump.

It sounds like the fish has white spot, which used to be treated with a malachite solution, but you will need to go to your local aquatic centre for help. Whitespot is bought on by stress, so I was wondering if you had only just moved the fish?

my origianal tank is an eclipse tank by marineland, but now 2 died from fin damage and could not swim properly. the sick fish also has almost no fin on one of his sides so he floats on his side but he is still breating.

doesnt sound too promising - a lot of fish diseases seem to be caused by stress, and once you have got your tank established you should be ok. From experience though, I found it useful to have something to put any sick fish in, and I bought a large bowl and a small ozygen bubbler. I would go to your aquatic centre and see what they suggest.

Sounds like a fungal infection to me (white spot)... very common in tanks... can be brought on by stress or bad water quality... go to your local fish shop and ask them for some 'meds'... there are loads that cover most fish ailments... describe - or better still - take the fish along... they'll have something... and yes, isolate it.
