How can we stop birds from eating the putty around the windows of my house. It is getting to be a major problem and could result in a major falling out!

Try making a bird feeder. Get some solid fat (lard or meat fat that has solidified) put some nuts in it, wrap it in a net and hang it somewhere in the garden. It might deter them from the putty.

If not then try using something else instead of putty. Sealant maybe.
Put wires or something on the window or window sill to stop the birds from perching.
"major falling out"

Is that the window falling out?

RSPB has advised using putty without linseed oil and aluminium amonium sulphate powder. The first was not entirely successful but made a spray with the powder and it seems to be working. The birds don't like the smell but it is not harmful to them. Thanks all.
