My female hamster is normally really active, runs about and has a normal hamster life, eating sleeping, exercise, she's very sociable and very active. She normally walks over us or just sits on the settee and grooms herself. or just watches us, she's very funny. But today she has snuggled up beside my daughter and hidden her face then just looked up at us and stared whilst we were chatting to her. We left her a while until she came to play and i took over looking after her, twice she hid, we dont tease her or force her to do anything she dont want to, she has a healthy diet and we dont pester her all day, she's only about 7 months old, only other thing we are concerned about was a lump that sometimes appears on the underside of her bum. Does anyone know what maybe her problem is? are we doing anything wrong?

Could 'she' be a 'he'?

I am not sure when hamsters reach puberty/sexual maturity. But maybe it is his boy bits.
Yes I have to agree with wolf..If she is eating and everything is ok I think your she is a he.
