How long after a cat has been castrated can he go out without roaming?

Not until he has had his stitches out - usually the vet will advise you. Nothing to say he wont still roam though.
A male cat doesn't have stiches these days, mine didn't they glued the wound. I was advised to keep him in for 3-4 days and then he would be fine to go out.

I took the vet's advice and kept him in a few days and he was fine.
my cat was advised to stay in but he made a run for it and that night he decided to climb up a tree and get stuck something he had never done before, we had to borrow a ladder and grab him it was quite funny especially after a few beers.
PS the cat was absoulutely fine!!
no stitches really, a ladies cat at work did only a few months ago, she had to take him back in 10 days to have them removed.
