Hi, I have two of my own kitties, but a few months ago we found a stray one in our garden in the rain with a broken leg. We took him in and kept him warm while we phoned the rspca. Our next door neighbour took him to the vets, and brought him home again, Now because he came into our house that one time he keeps on coming in and spraying on my furniture, so when we come home it stinks! Does anyone know how i can stop him coming into my house without deterring my own kitties? We tried one of those magnetic cat flaps but it didnt work and our cats kept getting stuck outside?? Thankyou x

Sit by the cat flap with a water pistol and he will soon get the message. Also tell the neighbour to get 'his' cat neutered so he does not spray everywhere.
As it is a stray that seems to have adopted you, and Im assuming your cats have no problems with it, have you considered adopting it and getting it neutered?

My neighbours kind of look after him by leaving him food out and things, so i'm not prepared to take him in and pay to have him neutered. The problem is i dont think they would be prepared to either.

Its a toughie

Have you contacted your local cats protection league? If you explain the situation, they may come and take the cat and rehome him. When I took in two cats, they gave me vouchers towards the cost of having them both neutured as I couldnt afford to get them both done. You can find your local branch here :

I'm being a big softy here but the poor thing probably just wants somewhere nice to live. As previous answers have suggested try contacting the cats protection people as they can usually help out and he surely deserves a chance of a nice home.
Also if you are prepared to give him a home they will take them and get them neutered and then return them to you.
Afraid neutering is the only way to stop a tomcat spraying.
I also have a stray that keeps coming in and spraying my house, its attacked my cat twice costing me 100 in vets bills! I have tried the water pistol and it doesnt work, I am now trying to befriend this cat so that I can catch it and take it somwhere to be sorted as its making my life hell but it runs off all the time

thankyou janiee, someone who understands my situation a bit clearer.

i dont exactly get on with my neighbours so im trying to find a way i can stop it without annoying them. I cant really take him away because they would complain, but at the same time they wont do anything about it themselves as they dont actually own him.

I'm at a loss.
