Not its not true and we have the bites to prove it, they prefer not to bite humans but if that is all that is in offer they will have a feast and you will then scratch yourself to bits!! I'm currenlt doing battle with our cats and their visitors and they are driving me mad.
I wish!!!
cat and dog fleas will bite humans as most pet owners will tell you!!
Cat fleas are more likely than dog fleas to bite people and will do so if cats are in short supply or by mistake.

Dog, hedgehog and rabbit fleas tend to stick to their normal hosts.

However it's not just us who are mistaken 'victims' - dogs get bitten by the human flea!
The Human flea!!! don't get panicked by the human flea lol in 13 years as a pest control officer I never came across an incident of human fleas, but they do exist

Thanks for your answers. I got a bite on my ancle earlier and blamed it on the cat having fleas (although he doesn't appear to be scratching himself) but my Dad argued that animal fleas don't bite humans. Now I can finally tell him he is wrong about something. :o)

Thanks again!
