Hey, crete, why not get one of those one's on wheels that you push along?

As far as I'm aware they don't poo (though, these days, they probably do toy dogs that poo).

thank for your reply cascarelli. i was being serious though, youve been a great help !
Hi Crete,
Have you tried one of the pooper scoopers. It avoids you having to handle it's poo to some extent.
You place a dog poo bag inside it and as it is made of plastic, close the scoop together and tie the bag shut.
Go to your nearest pet shop and they will have different ones for sale.
Got to say, picking up your dog's poo is not too bad, but I know some people can be a bit squeamish about it.
lol crete :-), you should see the size of the deposits our dog leaves hehe....
I'm afraid it's mind over matter, I put the bag over my hand, grab deposit :-(, and deftly fold the bag over and tie!!!
Out for walks, means I put it in another bag so I'm not wandering around with poo bag to hand.... and then.... the bit I think is the actual worse bit?
Opening the dreaded dog poo bin lol.... but, I saw the bloke that comes and empties them, and shoves them in the back of his van... I've got that down as the worst job ever!!!

So, for your lovely, possible new addition? suck some very strong mints whilst doing the poop scoop ;-)

Hi crete i agree with cruella and beryllium when you think about it he or she will be your little baby pets bring you so much love and affection i do hope you fined a nice little doggy i love my burty basset to bits lots of love megan
I don't think you'll find it difficult at all. I was a bit worried about that with my cat but I've found that it doesn't bother me at all cleaning out his litter tray or indeed cleaning up the occassional hair ball he throws up!

I think its like with kids - the idea of dirty nappies makes you feel ill until its your own kids nappies then it doesn't bother you!
there are other things you may have to deal with other than poo, and if that makes you cringe, I think you should think long and hard about having a dog. My husband is the same, would only remove it if it had been baked in the sun for a week!! - you have to consider a dog sometimes has digestive problems and the 'poo' is stuck to them - so they have to have a bath. Think about it before committing!
Other things such as diarrhoea which most pups and dogs get from time to time, like its been said before think hard crete before you decide and do let us know the outcome.
Im a poo expert! In my job, i can pick up about 20 poos per day, you get used to it! My dogs are fed a natural diet with lots of RMBs, meaning they have tiny little white poos which dont smell. Theres a solution!
My dogs are fed on Eukanuba and only do little hard sausage like poos which I pick up with a plastic carrier bag if I am out, or a kiddies plastic spade at home. You could use rubber gloves.

There is a spray you can get which 'freezes' the poo and covers it in a sort of white foam which is supposed to make it easier to pick up, but I have never tried it.

As others have said, there are often other reasons for dogs producing nasty substances, and if you are that squeamish then maybe a dog is not for you. Whatever you decide, if you do get a dog then it is your responsibility to clean up after it.
If you have had children, then it is no worse than cleaning their backsides. Once you have done it a couple of times, you do it without thinking. Don't let picking up poo put you off getting a dog. Go for it!
I feed mine with a few elastic bands in every meal, this way all of the poos have little hoops to pick them up!!!

We are hoping to get an Irish Wolfhound soon (the largest dog breed in the world) but got to wait until carakeel has had both er knee ops before we can go ahead.

Now that is big poo!!! you don't need a doggy bag you need a wheel barrow!!!
I'm sorry but I dont think you should get a dog, I admire your honesty but if you have doubts now about the poo and lets face everyone poos including me & you, then dont get a dog.Its part and parcel of being a dog lover.
Don't get a dog, I only picked up poo once when dog sitting and the thought of that one time feeling the warm soft pile through the plastic bag Ugggh never again. I love other peoples dogs though.
