If the cat is a fully mature cat of breeding age, she will have come into estrus, on average, each two or three weeks. Female cats show few if any signs of being in "heat", such as vaginal bleeding. However, they do become agitated, perhaps vocalizing louder and more often, displaying affection more readily to the owners and other observable, unique behaviors. If carefully monitored and has no opportunity to breed, she'll come out of estrus in a week or so, only to enter it again. If this behaviour is lacking, you can rest assured she is expecting. It doesn't take long, perhaps three weeks or so, for signs of abdominal swelling to begin. If she was let outside anytime during her estrus cyslce, she has been bred and expecting...
