I have an 8yr old cat who regularly sicks up his food. He has done this for as long as I've had him, since he was a kitten. He brings up his food almost as soon as hes eaten it and this happens at least once a week. Hes an indoor cat so doesnt mix with other cats, nor can he eat strange things in a garden. I've tried different types/brands of food, nothing makes any difference. I've taken him to vets over the years and they've always said hes fine. Please help - its depressing me and it cant be nice for him either!!!

It sounds like he's regurgitating his food - basically the food goes into the gullet, but is brought back up before it gets to the stomach. If this has hapenned since he was born it is likely to be a condition called megaoesophagus - where the oesophagus (gullet) is wider than normal.

Try feeding your cat very small amounts of food at a time, and raising it off the floor may help (although many cats will take the food down to floor level then eat it there!).
