I've got a Plec in a cold water tank that has got quite big(8" or so) and I think its actually going to outgrow the tank before long. We're getting a tropical tank soon and I was thinking of moving it into the new tank. I know Plecs are quite hardy fish and was wondering if this would be a wise move ? Do you have to be careful which types of fish you mix it with ?

Is it a coldwater or tropical plec???
You should be able to put a pleco in a tropical fish tank. They are pretty strong and generally prefer tropical temperatures anyway.

Pleco fish are normally very friendly fish there should be no problem putting it in with other fish, the other fish have to be good community fish also.
I had one that out grew its tank, checked first, then took it to an Aquariests shop and part exchanged it for a smaller on.
